UBS Japan Launches COVID-19 Employee Giving Program

Dear UBS Japan Colleagues:

We are pleased to announce that a local employee giving program, 100% matched by UBS, is now available to address emergency local food needs. This initiative brings food delivery support to 400 single-parent Japanese households facing severe economic consequences from the COVID-19 outbreak.

1. Project Outline

Economic impact on the needy in Japan

Surveys conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare show that 48% of single-parent households in Japan have suffered income declines due to COVID-19, and 38% of these homes are struggling severely with increased food and utility expenses due to school closures since the outbreak.

Traditional support platforms like 3,700 child food pantries across the country are closed down and unavailable.
Many children are in a desperate situation due to the deep impact of the Coronavirus on their families’ standard of living.

UBS is determined, best we can, to help alleviate some of this suffering. (Specific instructions for how you can help financially follow below.)

Project Goals

With your support and the firm’s matching of every yen you choose to give, Child Food Aid, a food box package delivery service, will reach 400 single-parent households.

The project will also engage and track the end beneficiaries directly via LINE messaging to ensure their survival and collect accurate data on their status that will be used to advocate for enhanced government services and aid delivery.

Project Partners

This project will be led by RCF in partnership with NPO Florence, as well as a modest base of local volunteers who will deliver the services.
